The somewhat infamous playboy Hugh Hefner just received a huge blow from former girlfriend and Playboy Bunny Holly Madison after she published a revealing recount of her time in the Playboy Mansion. “Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny” is described in the author’s note as the “never-before-told story of the Playboy Mansion and the man that holds the key.”
“In her book, Ms. Madison writes that her experience at the mansion was a far cry from the glamorous, carefree lifestyle depicted in the show. She describes Mr. Hefner as a ‘controlling megalomaniac’ who enforced a strict 9 p.m. curfew for his harem of ‘girlfriends’ and forbade them from fraternizing with mansion staffers. In a passage Ms. Madison said was very difficult to write, she recounts the night she was introduced to Mr. Hefner’s biweekly ‘bedroom routine,’ which involves a semicircle of blondes in flannel pajamas smoking marijuana and watching pornography, among other things.”
Not only does this publication tear down the glorified aura of the Playboy Mansion, it demonstrates the power of social media. Madison, now 35, has hit publishing gold with this exposé. The book reached the #1 spot on WSJ’s best-seller list and #7 on Amazon’s.
Hefner denies the claims, saying that Madison has “chosen to rewrite history in an attempt to stay in the spotlight.”
